Periodic surfaces backed by a short circuit can act as polarization girators. This communication describes a design method for these devices, based on the use of equivalent circuits and microwave circuit theory. The use of the circuit equivalence practically elliminates the neeed of the time consuming optimization process using electromagnetic simulators.
