Abstract
The study of Electromagnetic BandGap (EBG) structures have become an encouraging investigation area due to their behaviour as artificial magnetic
conductor (AMC). Their properties allow us to control the propagation of electromagnetic waves, which is impossible to reach with
a perfect electric conductor (PEC). In this work we analyze a particular structure that behaves as an AMC-PEC-AMC strips structure. The aim of using his configuration is the improvement of the wave guidance, working as if it were a virtual aveguide. The AMC lines stop the propagation of the electric field, as if they were the metallic walls of the equivalent real waveguide, whereas the PEC strip allow the propagation over it. The present work exposes not only simulation results but also real measured prototype results, applying different useful measuring trials.
