Abstract

Due to the importance of satellite communication in millimeter-wave band it is necessary to dispose of propagation channel models for this band. Experimental results allow validate, improve or develop this kind of models. The Radiocommunication Grop (GTIC) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is measuring the Q-band beacon signal from the Alphasat satellite since 2014 as part of a European propagation experiment, and two complete years of measurements are available until now. The objective of this paper is to present the statistical results on total attenuation and fade dynamics (fade duration and fade slope) for the two available years in Madrid. Comparisons on total attenuation between results for the different years have carried out, and between fade duration statistics with the ITU and CRC models.
