Abstract

I participated in two projects during my internship, the launch of Euronext’s new Web Ecosystem and the Digitalization of the Membership Onboarding Process. Euronext N.V. (European New Exchange Technology) is a European stock exchange with registered office in Amsterdam and other markets operated in Brussels, London, Lisbon, Dublin, Oslo and Paris. In the first project, which consisted of the complete restructuring and redesign of Euronext’s Web Ecosystem, I took part only on the final stages of it. Which meant that my main tasks were User Interfaces redesigns and designs, Quality Assurance and in some cases User Experience and Usability analysis. The main focus of my tasks related to this project was helping the developers launch the website with the expected quality. Which meant a lot of prioritization of issues was done as well as the simplification of designs and the proper explanation of them. This proved to be quite interesting, when taking part of an industry project like this, there’s no time for user tests and extensive research, decisions have to be made quickly and things need to be as simple as possible, without sacrificing quality of course. The user tests were done before my arrival during the design phase at the beginning of the project. The launch was successful and the safeguards we placed in order to avoid major issues proved successful. In the second project, I led the User Centered Design process of gathering requirements, defining them, prototyping them, testing them and repeating the process all over again. A very important part of this project was the workflow design, defining the actions and possible actions the users could do was necessary to design the User Interfaces and provide a great User Experience. After every iteration, new requirements came up that needed to be addressed and the UIs changed significantly since their inception. But this process guaranteed that everything was taken into account. Digitalizing processes that involve many manual tasks save a lot of time, protects from errors and makes the process more appealing for customers. Using User Centered Design and having the users at hand to test led to great results that will beneficially impact Euronext.
