High concentrator photovoltaics (CPV) typically requires a metallic electrode pattern that covers up to 10% of the cell surface. The shading effect produced by this front electrode results in a significant reduction in short-circuit current (I SC) and hence, in a significant efficiency loss. In this work we present a cover glass (originally meant to protect the cell surface) that is laser-grooved with a micrometric pattern that redirects the incident solar light towards interfinger regions and away from the metallic electrodes, where they would be wasted in terms of photovoltaic generation. Quantum efficiency (QE) and current (I)-voltage (V) characterization under concentration validate the proof-of-concept, showing great potential for CPV applications date_type: published date: 2015-09-28 volume: 1679 place_of_pub: Melville, New York pagerange: 060001-1-060001-8 event_title: 11th International Conference on Concentrator Photovoltaic Systems event_location: Aix-les-Bains, France event_dates: 13/04/2015–15/04/ 2015 event_type: conference id_number: 10.1063/1.4931535 institution: ETSI_Diseno department: Ingenieria_electrica_2014 refereed: TRUE isbn: 978-0-7354-1326-9 issn: 0094-243X book_title: AIP Conference Proceedings official_url: http://scitation.aip.org/content/aip/proceeding/aipcp/10.1063/1.4931535 citation: García-Linares Fontes, Pablo and Voarino, Philippe and Domínguez Domínguez, César and Dellea, Olivier and Besson, Pierre and Fugier, Pascal and Baudrit, Mathieu (2015).
