Abstract

In this paper, the reasons for the continuity of the traditional masonry methods are analysed as well as the characteristics of the preservation of the historical heritage built with volcanic tuff in Arequipa (city located in South America, SW of Perú). This study analyses the sustainability and authenticity of the monumental restoration in which an antiseismic rehabilitation of masonry and vauled surfaces has taken place.
