El proceso de mentoring en la educación del entrenador

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio es conocer cómo se ha diseñado el proceso de mentoring en la formación de entrenadores expertos en baloncesto. Para ello se ha utilizado la metodología cualitativa, utilizando como instrumento la entrevista semiestructurada. Se entrevistaron a dieciséis entrenadores españoles de reconocido prestigio a nivel nacional e internacional y considerados como expertos según la literatura específica. Los resultados muestran como los dieciséis entrenadores a lo largo de su formación, han tenido uno o varios mentores que han contribuido poderosamente a su formación. Seis de los entrenadores entrevistados destacaron este medio como el medio formativo más importante entre otros. Sin embargo, en todos los casos, este proceso mentoring se ha producido de manera informal y no reglada al producirse en funciones de ayudantía y normalmente se realizan aprendizajes mediante la observación y la imitación. Por todo ello, sería importante desde los clubes, federaciones e instituciones estructurar este medio formativo tan importante. The aim of this paper is to know how it has been designed the mentoring process in the training of expert basketball coaches. We have used qualitative methodology, using the semistructured interview. A total of sixteen spanish coaches of wide renown and taken into consideration as experts. The results show as the sixteen coaches, during their training, have had one or several mentors who have contributed significantly to their training. Six of the coaches interviewed stressed this medium as the most important formative among others. However, in all cases, this mentoring process has been on an informal basis and not regulated, cause it occurs in assistantships. Normally, the apprenticeship is through observation and imitation. Therefore, it would be important that the clubs, federations and institutions organize this media training so important.
