Pensamento e inteligência em projeto arquitetônico. Uma revisão dos 'agens' do ofício: linguagem, grafoagem e mãoagem

Abstract

Considerando que, por um lado, a representação arquitetônica tem sido estudada como uma lin- guagem, e ainda que as profundas implicações do nexo entre linguagem e pensamento, este tra- balho aborda panoramicamente a participação do pensamento e da inteligência na produção de representações arquitetônicas. Esta questão é co- locada, em primeiro lugar, estabelecendo um cor- po teórico através da revisão de vários autores e correntes de pensamento no século XX até os dias atuais, da linguística (estrutural), passando pela psi- cologia, a filosofia e as neurociências, entre outras áreas envolvidas. Em segundo lugar, descreve-se a produção de representações humanas (ontoge- nia e filogenia), os tipos existentes (atuante, icôni- ca e simbólica), os suportes materiais envolvidos (linguagem, grafoagem e mãoagem) e seus corre- latos mentais básicos envolvidos (conceitos, pre- ceitos e endoceptos) para só então distinguir entre pensamento e inteligência. Em terceiro lugar, as representações disciplinares (desenho, maquete / modelo e obra) confrontando-as com as anteriores, concluindo que é plausível falar de inteligência ao invés de pensamento associado às representações arquitetônicas próprias das práticas projetivas. Fi- nalmente, debater-se-á possíveis consequências derivadas da precisão conceitual realizada no cam- po da representação arquitetônica, apresentando potenciais escopos sobre o trabalho disciplinar. ---------- ABSTRACT---------- Whereas, on the one hand architectural represen- tation has been studied as a language, and on the other hand the profound implications of the rela- tionship between language and thinking, this pa- per points out the role of thinking and intelligence in the production of architectural representations. This problem is carried out, firstly, establishing a theoretical discussion throughout the revision of different authors and schools of thought from the 20th century, which belong to linguistics, psychol- ogy, philosophy and neuroscience, among other fields. Secondly, this paper will describe the pro- duction of human representations (ontogenetically and phylogenetically), the existent types (acting, iconic and symbolic), the material supports involved (language, graphuage and manuage) and its basic mental correlatives implied (concepts, percepts and endocepts) in order to make a distinction between thinking and intelligence. Thirdly, this paper will de- scribe different disciplinary representations (draw- ing, architectural model and work) and how they are confronted with the previous topics, by concluding that it is possible to talk more about intelligence than thinking, this phenomenon being associated to the architectural representations proper of the projective practices. Finally, this paper discusses the possible consequences derived from conceptual precision, carried out in the field of architectural representation, and it shows its potential disciplinary implications.
