Mezquitas toledanas: origen, evolución, implantación

Abstract

Toledo, o Tulaytula, fue una gran ciudad en la época musulmana que seguramente
contó con un abundante número de mezquitas para dar servicio
a su población. Este trabajo estudia, a través del dibujo arquitectónico, las
mezquitas datadas entre los siglos IX y XI conocidas hasta la fecha, centrándose
en la evolución que han experimentado a lo largo de la historia. Se pretende
entender su desarrollo y comparar sus transformaciones tanto a nivel
individual como de conjunto, así como comprender su encaje en una visión
evolutiva de la ciudad.
Una parte primordial del trabajo es la elaboración de la documentación gráfica
que conforma las fichas dedicadas a cada edificio, bajo criterios gráficos
comunes que permiten su comparación y visión de conjunto. Este "paralelo
gráfico" permite reconocer similitudes y diferencias entre las vidas de unos
edificios de tan complejo y fascinante pasado.
Toledo, or Tulaytula, was an important city that was probably home to a
great number of mosques to serve the Muslim population. This work studies,
through drawing as the architect's tool, the mosques dated from the IX
to the XI centuries known today. It is focused in their evolution through
history.
The study's primary intention is understanding their progress and transformations
by comparing the mosques individually and amongst them as a
group, so it is also possible to understand how they fit in the city's historic
development.
The mayor achievement of this study is the elaboration of the graphic documents
which form the different buildings files. The files are made under
common graphic standards so the comparison between different buildings
is possible. This "graphic parallel" allows the reader to see the similarities
and differences between the lives of buildings of a complex and fascinating
past.
