Desarrollo de una aplicación para la auditoría y control de un servidor de base de datos SQL Server

Abstract

La auditoría, cualquier empresa con un mínimo de ingresos sabe lo que es y lo ha sufrido, por lo que no es un concepto nada nuevo. Pero la tecnología está irrumpiendo cada vez más en todas las empresas del mundo y por tanto el concepto de auditoría aunque no cambia, sí lo hace el modo de llevarlas a cabo. Cada vez es más difícil saber qué personas tienen privilegios críticos con los que realizar acciones que pudieran afectar a la conclusión de la auditoría. Es por tanto que las Compañías auditoras y también los propios clientes buscan soluciones automatizadas que destripen los sistemas de las compañías y extraigan hasta la más mínima mota de polvo de información susceptible de ser importante. Es por ello cada vez más, van surgiendo distintas soluciones que ayudan tanto a los clientes a tener más control sobre sus sistemas como a los auditores a extraer toda la información para poder emitir opinión. El proyecto de fin de grado consiste en la implementación de una aplicación de escritorio que ofrezca las mayores facilidades de cara a poder tener un alto grado de control acerca de un servidor de base de datos SQL Server. La aplicación será capaz de conectarse remotamente al servidor y realizar las consultas SQL necesarias para que el usuario pueda tener un alto grado de control sobre la configuración del mismo. La aplicación tendrá dos formas de presentarle la información al usuario. El usuario podrá consultar la información en tiempo real a través de una interfaz gráfica que le mostrará la información que desee. O bien el usuario podrá extraer la información a modo de informe, que podrá consultar cuando desee. Este informe se encontrará en formato Excel, altamente extendido en cualquier entorno profesional. Como caso de uso del proyecto, se plantea una Compañía petrolera ficticia llamada GasPetrol Sociedad de Amigos y Familiares, la cual tiene desplegada su infraestructura TI sobre un servidor de base de datos SQL Server. Y la aplicación, desarrollada en particular para este caso de uso, es capaz de conectarse remotamente al servidor de la Compañía y extraer la información necesaria para poder emitir una opinión de auditoría una vez examinada dicha información. Adicionalmente, se mencionarán los aspectos presupuestarios estimados para el desarrollo del proyecto, así como las conclusiones obtenidas durante el mismo, proponiendo algunas modificaciones orientadas al despliegue del proyecto en un entorno real y a mejorar la funcionalidad de la solución.
Abstract:
Audit, every Company who earns a mínimum of money knows what it is and has suffered it. So the concept is not new. However, the technology is bursting into the Companys throughout the world. In consequence of this, even though the concept is the same, the methodology which the audit companies follow is changing. Now is more difficult to know who has the critic privileges that could affect to the audit conclusion. Is for that that the audit companies and the clients, also, are looking for automatic solutions capable to extract all the important information. For this reason, many different solutions are being developed for helping the clients to have more control over their systems and for extracting to the auditors all the information needed for concluding their work. The project consists in the implementation of desktop application which could offer the most facilites for having a high grade of control of a database server type SQL Server. The application will be capable to connect remotely to the server, do the SQL queries needed for having the highest grade of knowledge over the server configuration. The application will have two ways to present the information to the user. The user could see the information in real time through a graphic interface which will show him the information he wants. On the other hand, the user could extract the information to a file which can be consulted when he wants. The file will be in Excel format, because Excel is highly extended in professional environment. As project’s case of use, a fictitious oil Company called GasPetrol Relatives & Friends Society is presented. The Company has deployed his IT infraestructure over a database server type SQL Server. The application, which has been developed particularly for this case of use, is capable to connect to the Company server and extract all the information needed to issue an audit opinion after the information had been examined. Additionally, it will be mentioned the estimated economical aspects of the project and the reached conclusions, putting forward some extensions oriented to the deployment of the project in a real environment or improve the functionality of the solution.
