Arquitecturas de la Hidroelectricidad : Miguel Fisac y las centrales de Canal Roya e Ip en Canfranc, Huesca

Abstract

En 2017 se cumplen 50 años de la inauguración de la central hidroeléctrica de Canal Roya en Canfranc, Huesca. Este edificio, junto a la cercana central de Ip, forman un interesante conjunto de Arquitectura Industrial, no sólo por las soluciones técnicas y constructivas aplicadas, sino también porque en su diseño participó el prestigioso arquitecto Miguel Fisac (Daimiel, 1913; Madrid, 2006). Considerado uno de los representantes más importantes e influyentes de la arquitectura española de posguerra, fue pionero en el uso del hormigón pretensado y postensado como elemento estructural y destacó siempre por aplicar la prefabricación y la industrialización como formas más coherentes y económicas de construir. Fisac aplica estas soluciones estructurales experimentales e innovadoras en sus edificios industriales, humanizando espacios funcionales en los que la luz y la textura asumen todo el protagonismo, siendo Ip uno de los más interesantes por la aplicación de un lenguaje cercano a la construcción vernácula local pero reinterpretándolo y adaptándolo a una arquitectura contemporánea. En esta comunicación estudiaremos el conjunto de las presas y centrales hidroeléctricas de Canal Roya e Ip, la relación entre Arquitectura e Ingeniería con la colaboración de Fisac en el diseño de los edificios y las actuaciones que tanto el Ayuntamiento de Canfranc como la empresa concesionaria (Acciona), tienen previsto realizar el año que viene para conmemorar su medio siglo de existencia. ----------ABSTRACT---------- 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the hydroelectric power plant of Canal Roya in Canfranc, Huesca. This building, next to the nearby central of Ip, form an interesting set of Industrial Architecture, not only by technical and constructive solutions applied, but also because its design involved the prestigious architect Miguel Fisac (Daimiel, 1913; Madrid, 2006). He is Considered one of the most important and influential representatives of the Spanish postwar architecture, pioneer in the use of post-tensioned and prestressed concrete as a structural element. Besides, he always stands out by applying prefabrication and industrialization as more coherent and economical ways to build. Fisac applies these experimental and innovative structural solutions in their industrial buildings, humanizing functional spaces where light and texture assume the leading role, being Ip one of the most interesting by applying a language close to the local vernacular building but reinterpreting it and adapting it to contemporary architecture. In this paper we study the set of dams and hydroelectric power plants of Canal Roya and Ip, the relationship between architecture and engineering with the collaboration of Fisac in the design of buildings and the actions that both the City of Canfranc and the concessionaire (Acciona) they have planned next year to commemorate its half century of existence.
