Abstract

The Project presented hereby consists of a study of the influence of habitat and climate on the demography of chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes). The study area is the Dindefelo Natural Community Reserve (R.N.C.D.), Senegal.

Firstly, it´s analyzed and characterized the vegetation and other variables of the study population´s home range. Then, it is described how these factors influence on demographic and abundance rates.

Lately, we have carried out several statistical analyzes to relate the data to other 80 chimpanzee population (Pan troglodytes). From these results it will be elaborated and discussed hypotheses of chimpanzee´s ecology.

Finally, it will be proposed conservation actions to be carried out in the R.N.C.D. by the Jane Goodall Institute.
