Arquitectura y cine: implicaciones espaciales del lenguaje posmoderno

Abstract

De entre todos los estudios que abordan la relación entre
la arquitectura y el cine, el vínculo entre ambos procesos
creativos y la utilización de un lenguaje común es el que se
ha considerado más relevante para la elaboración de esta
tesis. De esta forma, el interés principal del trabajo radica
en encontrar un punto de encuentro entre la arquitectura,
el cine y la forma en la que ambos inciden en la sociedad.
La investigación se realiza por tanto reconociendo la
influencia mutua que se establece entre la arquitectura y el
cine, ya que al incluir ésta de una u otra forma en el proceso
de creación de cualquier película, la visión del espectador
se verá alterada por las sensaciones que produzca. Así
pues, se trata de explicar de qué forma el cine utiliza uno u
otro espacio para mostrar la reacción de la población a un
cambio social, o incidir en su percepción.
De entre todos los contextos posibles, se elige el moviemiento
Posmoderno como escenario, y se elabora un análisis de la
obra de Charles Jencks y sus diagramas para interpretar el
lenguaje arquitectónico de esta época y buscar su analogía
en el cine.
La lista de las 78 películas seleccionadas abarca desde los
años 60 hasta el comienzo de la década de los 90, siendo
estos 30 años los que se han considerado más determinantes
en la definición y asentamiento de una corriente que aún
hoy sigue estando presente. Esta filmografía, justificada
por una serie de características que se tratarán a lo largo
de estas páginas, acabará convirtiéndose en uno más de los
diagramas que tratan de definir el movimiento posmoderno.
Among all the studies that address the relationship between
architecture and cinema, the link between both creative
processes and the use of a common language is the one that
has been considered most relevant for the elaboration of
this thesis. In this way, the main interest of the work lies in
finding a meeting point between architecture, film and the
way in which both affect society.
The research is carried out therefore recognizing the mutual
influence that is established between the architecture and
the cinema, since by including it in one way or another in
the process of creating any film, the vision of the viewer will
be altered by the sensations that produce Thus, it is about
explaining how the cinema uses one or another space to
show the reaction of the population to a social change, or to
influence its perception.
From all those possible contexts, the Postmodern movement
is chosen as the setting, and an analysis of the work of
Charles Jencks and his diagrams is elaborated to interpret
the architectural language of this period and look for its
analogy in the cinema.
The list of 78 selected films covers from the 60s to the
beginning of the 90s, being these 30 years those that have
been considered the most determining in the definition
and settlement of a current that is still present today. This
filmography, justified by a series of characteristics that will
be treated throughout these pages, will end up becoming
one of the diagrams that try to define the postmodern
movement.
