Abstract
Son varios los estudios que han encontrado un nivel de ansiedad elevado en los alumnos de Secundaria que se enfrentan a las Matemáticas y que se relaciona con un bajo rendimiento en la materia. Dada la importancia a nivel social y laboral de esta disciplina, se ha realizado una encuesta para la obtención de variables que, junto con otros estudios, puedan dar a conocer qué factores han propiciado esta situación tan desfavorable para una disciplina tan necesaria. Los resultados de este trabajo han demostrado que, independientemente de la propia naturaleza de la materia y de la metodología empleada en los centros educativos para su enseñanza, el entorno social y familiar ha condicionado de forma significativa la manera en que el alumno afronta la asignatura. En base a este resultado, se hace conveniente tomar medidas para incidir de manera proactiva en el entorno familiar de los alumnos para evitar que adopten una postura desfavorable hacia las Matemáticas. ----------ABSTRACT---------- There are several studies which have found an elevated level of anxiety in high school students when they grapple with mathematics; said anxiety is related to a low performance in the subject. Given the importance of this discipline at the social and occupational level, a survey has been conducted in order to collect variables which, together with other studies, can bring to light what factors have fostered such an unfavorable situation for such a necessary discipline. The results of this survey have shown that the social and familial environment has determined, in a meaningful way, how students tackle this subject, regardless of the very nature of the subject or the methodology utilized in teaching it in educational institutions. Based on this result, it is advisable to take measures to proactively impact the students' familial environment in order to prevent them from adopting a hostile stance towards mathematics.
