Solución de Business Intelligence para el análisis de estadísticas deportivas: aplicación al caso de jugadores de fútbol

Abstract

El objetivo de este proyecto es la creación de un servicio de Business Intelligence basado en el análisis de estadísticas de fútbol. Esta solución proporciona a equipos de fútbol, la posibilidad de analizar estadísticas a cerca de equipos y jugadores rivales, para preparar próximos partidos, analizar el rendimiento de los jugadores y realizar fichajes de los futbolistas más en forma del momento, de una manera visual muy intuitiva y sencilla de utilizar. El proyecto consiste en obtener estadísticas de todos los futbolistas profesionales, de las principales ligas y las últimas temporadas a través de un proveedor de datos. Después se realiza un proceso de extracción, transformación y carga de los datos (ETL) para crear un Data Warehouse que almacena estos datos de manera uniforme. Una vez realizado este proceso y habiendo completado una serie de análisis, para determinar las
estadísticas que aportan un mayor valor al proyecto, se crea un informe visual. Este informe permite realizar una comparativa de estadísticas de equipos y jugadores rivales, con las estadísticas de los propios jugadores del equipo que solicita el servicio. Lo que aporta este proyecto al equipo, es obtener cierta ventaja sobre los rivales, a la hora de preparar los próximos encuentros o a la hora de adelantarse en el fichaje de algún jugador. Por lo tanto, el proyecto ofrece un servicio de BI completo, para realizar un análisis basado en la comparativa de estadísticas de jugadores de fútbol, de una manera muy sencilla y visual. Esto permite tomar determinadas decisiones, que dotan de cierta ventaja al equipo y ayudan a adaptar sus estrategias según sea conveniente.
Abstract:
The objective of this Project is the development of a Business Intelligence service based on the analysis of football statistics. This solution provides football teams with the possibility of analyzing statistics about rival
football teams and players, to prepare for upcoming matches, analyze the performance of the players and sign the more in form player at the moment, and all of this in a very intuitive visual interface, easy to use. The project consists on obtaining statistics of all professional football players, of the main leagues and from the last seasons from a statistics data provider. After that, a data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process is then performed to create a Data Warehouse that stores this data uniformly. Once this process has been completed and a series of analysis, to determine the statistics that provide the most value to the project, have been performed, a visual report is created. This report allows a comparison of statistics of rival teams and players, with the statistics of the players of
the team using this service. This project offers to the users’ certain advantage over the rivals, when preparing the next matches or when are looking to signing with a new player. Hence, the project offers a complete BI service, to perform analysis based on the comparison of statistics of football players, in a very simple and visual way. This facilitates the decision-making process, giving the team certain advantage and supporting adaptation of their strategies as appropriate.
