Arquitectura y moda: Guo Pei. Temporalidad, geometría y estructura

Abstract

Arquitectura y Moda, son dos artes totalmente relacionadas. La necesidad de cobijarse frente al medio surge desde los comienzos de la humanidad. Esta necesidad ha sido cubierta con la construcción de cuevas y cabañas y la protección del cuerpo con pieles; es aquí donde se encuentra el primer paralelismo entre ambas disciplinas. A lo largo de la historia la arquitectura generalmente ha buscado permanecer inmutable, mientras que la moda ha sido un arte cambiante. Aun así, cada época histórica está fuertemente influenciada por la sociedad existente, observándose un estilo correspondido entre ambas disciplinas. El método de diseño de moda y de arquitectura sigue un mismo esquema. En primer lugar se analiza un problema, posteriormente se propone una solución; solución que se expresará de forma bidimensional; y por último se llevará a cabo la solución tridimensionalmente a partir del método de construcción más adecuado según la propuesta. Los conceptos de “temporalidad”, “geometría” y “estructura” son destacables en el estudio de las similitudes y diferencias entre ambas disciplinas. Guo Pei, diseñadora china actual, se interesa por los conceptos de “espacio y tiempo” y los representa en su obra constantemente. Trata de conseguir unas estructuras y volumetrías específicas y además contribuye al movimiento actual de “Slow Fashion” en contra de la producción en masa, creando “couture única” y “permanente”. Architecture and Fashion design are two strictly related disciplines. The need to find shelter from the outside dates back to the begining of humanity. This need has been solved by the construction of cabins and the protection of the body with animal skin; here we find the first parallelism between the two arts. Through History, architecture has generally searched to mantain unchangeable, while fashion has always been in motion. Still, each historical period is strongly influenced by society, observing a corresponded style between both disciplines. The design method followed by both fashion and architecture is equal. Firstly you analize a situation for which you give a solution; this solution will be expressed two-dimensionally; and finally the proposal will be carried out threedimensionally by the most suitable constructive method. Concepts of “temporality”, “geometry” and “structure” are remarkable for the study of the similarities and diferences between both disciplines. Guo Pei, current Chinese designer, is interested in “space and time” concepts, and she represents them constantly in her work. She aims to achieve specific structures and volumetrics and she contributes to the actual “Slow Fashion” movement against massive production creating “enduring couture”.
