Iglesia de Polvoranca, Leganés. Estado actual, patología y actuación

Abstract

El propósito de este Trabajo Fin de Grado nace de la motivación de restaurar, conservar y aprovechar una edificación en estado de ruina y olvidada. El caso de estudio escogido es la Iglesia San Pedro Apóstol de Polvoranca, situada en Leganés, perteneciente a la Comunidad de Madrid. Dicha iglesia es, posiblemente, una de las mejores construcciones del barroco madrileño del Siglo XVII, y actualmente, únicamente se conserva una parte de la estructura inicial. Tras un proceso de estudio de la iglesia, se elabora una narrativa histórica del pueblo de Polvoranca, que abarca desde sus inicios hasta la unión con la ciudad de Leganés, a finales del Siglo XX. Una vez conocida su situación y su marco teórico, se establecen una serie de visitas al terreno para las mediciones y toma de fotografías, así como, observar cual es el estado actual de la iglesia. Se realiza entonces, la planimetría inicial del edificio, para posteriormente, analizar y estudiar los materiales, la patología, mediante una cartografía de lesiones, y elaborar un estudio pormenorizado de las causas y lesiones a través de una serie de fichas, con los procesos patológicos explicados al detalle. Uno de los objetivos principales del trabajo es detectar esas lesiones generadas por el paso del tiempo y posteriormente proponer un proyecto de restauración de la misma, aprovechando su estructura para un nuevo uso. Sin embargo, se decide mediante una propuesta de actuación, consolidar el edificio y devolverle la identidad que caracterizaba a la Iglesia San Pedro Apóstol, con el propósito de que la aldea de Polvoranca no quede en el olvido. Reflejar que lo que antiguamente fue un pueblo, hoy sirva para recordar y mantener viva la memoria de los que antes residieron en el lugar.
The purpose of this Final Thesis comes from the motivation to restore, preserve, and take advantage of forgotten buildings in ruin. The case study that was chosen for this purpose is the San Pedro Apostol de Polvoranca Church, located in Leganes, in the Madrid community. This church is, potentially, one of the best baroque-style constructions of the XVII century Madrid and currently a piece of the original structure is still standing. After a research process and a quest for information about the church, a historical narrative about the town of Polvoranca, from its beginnings and until its union with the city of Leganes at the end of the XX century, is made. Once its situation and its theoretical framework was established, a series of on-site visits were made to take measurements, photos and to observe the current state of the church. With this information, the initial planimetry of the building is created to then analyze and study the materials and the pathology through a cartography of damages. this, in order to create a detailed study of the causes and damages through a series of sheets with the pathological processes explained in detail. One of the main objectives of this study is the restoration of the church and to take advantage of its structure for a new use. Nevertheless, it is decided, through an action proposal, to consolidate the building and give it back the original identity that characterizes the San Pedro Apostol church. this, with the objective that the village of Polvoranca is not forgotten. A reminder that what used to be a town, can serve to remember and keep alive the memory of those who used to reside in this place.
