Despliegue de una botnet utilizando el framework Build Your Own Botnet

Abstract

El tema principal sobre el que trata este proyecto son las botnets y su funcionamiento. El objetivo final es concienciar al lector sobre la amenaza a la que nos vemos expuestos diariamente por parte de los ciberdelincuentes.

Para la realización del trabajo se han utilizado recursos disponibles en internet; todos ellos han sido recopilados en la sección de bibliografía del proyecto, donde se pueden consultar de una manera estructurada todas las fuentes utilizadas. Se ha priorizado el uso de fuentes de entidades reconocidas en el ámbito de la ciberseguridad cuando ha sido posible.

El proyecto ha sido estructurado con la intención de que el lector vaya obteniendo una visión de lo global a lo concreto, empezando desde una visión amplia en el panorama de la ciberseguridad y continuando por el estudio sobre las botnets, su estructura, funcionamiento, historia y estado en la actualidad. Para acabar con la implementación técnica de una botnet en un entorno controlado, utilizando el framework de ”Build your own botnet”.

El resultado obtenido ha sido, por una parte, una recopilación de información sobre las botnets y, por otra, la ejecución exitosa de una prueba de concepto en la que se muestra la implementación, el funcionamiento y la ejecución de ataques en un entorno controlado.

Abstract:

The main topic of this project is botnets and how they work. The ultimate purpose is to raise the reader’s awareness of the threat we are exposed to on a daily basis by cybercriminals.

In order to carry out the work, resources available on the internet have been used, all of which have been compiled in the bibliography section of the project, where all the sources used can be consulted in a structured manner. Priority has been given to the use of sources from recognised entities in the field of cybersecurity whenever possible.

The project has been structured with the intention of providing the reader a view from the global to the concrete, starting with a panoramic view of the cybersecurity landscape, continuing with the study of botnets, their structure, operation, history and current status. To finish with the technical implementation of a botnet in a supervised environment, using the ”Build your own botnet”framework.

The result has been, on the one hand, a collection of information on botnets and, on the other, the successful execution of a proof-of-concept demonstrating the implementation, operation and execution of attacks in a closed environment.
