Abstract
The aim of the present discussion is to look for a common basis to formulate problems of structural design with the real practise in mind in a constructive manner. The discussion is first motivated by the Reply of Sokól and Lewinsky (the Authors) to a previous dis- cussion by us (the Writers), but also by the prevalence of some confusion in the literature about the main ob- jectives of the structural design and of the structural optimization.
