Most\r\npart of pH (in H\r\n2\r\nO and KCl) variance was explained by the sampling date. No clear temporal trends were\r\nidenti\r\nfi\r\nable for total soil C and N content, likely due to the large SOM pool in these soils; however, changes\r\non soil\r\nδ\r\n13\r\nC were explained by the deposition of\r\n13\r\nC-depleted ashes, followed by its progressive erosion,\r\nwhile those on soil\r\nδ\r\n15\r\nN were a consequence of\r\nfi\r\nre induced N outputs. After the\r\nfi\r\nre, NH\r\n4\r\n+\r\n–\r\nN, P, Na, K, Mg,\r\nCa, Mn, Cu, Zn and B concentrations increased, while those of NO\r\n3\r\n−\r\n–\r\nN, Al, Fe and Co did not vary significantly.\r\nDespite a significant decline with time, concentrations of Mg, Ca and Mn at the end of the study were still\r\nhigher than in unburned soil, while those of K, Cu, Zn and B were similar to the pre-fire levels and those of\r\nNH\r\n4\r\n+\r\n–\r\nN, P and Na were below pre-fire values.\r\nMulching\r\nand\r\nSeeding\r\ntreatments for burned soil emergency\r\nstabilisation had significant effects on soil\r\nδ\r\n15\r\nN and extractable K, Mg and Ca, while data were inconclusive\r\nfor their possible effects on the extractable Al, Fe and Co"^^ .
