Online video-based repositories such as WeBSurg or WebOP provide ubiquitous access to surgical contents. However, their pedagogical facets have not been fully exploited and they are often seen as quick-reference repositories rather than full e-learning alternatives. We present a new pedagogically-supported Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) solution, MISTELA, designed by surgeons, pedagogical experts and engineers. MISTELA aims at building a common European pedagogical model supported by ICT technologies and elearning. The solution proposes a pedagogical model based on a framework for pedagogically-informed design of e-learning platforms. It is composed of (1) an authoring tool for editing and augmenting videos; (2) a media asset management system; and (3) a virtual learning environment. Support of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and validation of the solution, will help to determine its full potential. date_type: published date: 2014 pagerange: 0-0 pages: 4 event_title: XXXII Congreso Anual de la Sociedad Española de Ingeniería Biomédica (CASEIB 2014) event_location: Barcelona, Spain event_dates: 26/11/2014 - 28/11/2014 event_type: conference institution: Telecomunicacion department: Tecnologia_Fotonica refereed: TRUE book_title: Actas del Congreso Anual de la Sociedad Española de Ingeniería Biomédica citation: Oropesa García, Ignacio and Chmarra, Magdalena K. and Våpenstad, Cecilie and Sanchez Peralta, L.F. and Gutiérrez, David and Sánchez González, Patricia and García Novoa, Jorge and Albacete, A. and Cruz Martínez, Enrique de la and Langø, Thomas and Dankelman, J. and Sánchez Margallo, Francisco Miguel and Gómez Aguilera, Enrique J.
