We derive the thrust conditions of both spinning and nonspinning EDT and the maximum achievable thrust for a generic orbit and tether attitude. After showing that in general thrust arcs are possible even when the orbital velocity exceeds the plasma velocity we show an example of EDT orbit raising starting from a low-altitude equatorial elliptic orbit around Jupiter. date_type: published date: 2009 volume: 134 event_title: AAS/AIAA Spaceflight Mechanics Meeting event_location: Savannah event_dates: 8-12 Feb event_type: conference institution: Aeronauticos department: Aeronaves_2014 refereed: TRUE isbn: 978-0-87703-554-1 book_title: Spaceflight Mechanics Meeting.
