TY - CONF EP - 412 Y1 - 2013/// SN - 978-84-8363-992-4 N2 - This paper applies the generalized finite difference method to solve a classic problem of engineering, outlining its scope, its comparison with the finite element method and is exposed the improvement line of classical finite difference methods by means of use the generalized finite difference method. To this end, is studied the structural problem of the Bernoulli beam in several cases with different load and boundary conditions. We compare the result with that obtained with the finite element method calculated by SAP 2000 program and we obtained conclusions regarding the use of the numerical method for solving engi-neering problems in situations where the classic schemes of finite differences are limited.
