In this paper we present a survey on the most relevant tools and tool suites used to build a new ontology from scratch or reusing existing ontologies. Apart from the common edition and browsing functionality, we will see that they usually include ontology documentation, ontology exportation and importation from different formats, graphical views of the ontologies built, ontology libraries, attached inference engines, etc. We will review the following: DUET, OILEd, OntoEdit, Ontolingua, OntoSaurus, Protégé-2000, WebODE, and WebOnto. date: 2003-06 date_type: published publisher: Oesterreichische Gesellschaft fuer Artificial Intelligence full_text_status: public publication: Österreichische Gesellschaft für Artificial Intelligence Journal volume: 22 number: 2 pagerange: 6-16 institution: Informatica department: Inteligencia_Artificial issn: 0254-4326 rights: by-nc-nd citation: Gómez-Pérez, A.
