El origen de la Escuela de Agrónomos en La Flamenca = The origin of the School of Agronomical Engineers in La Flamenca

Resumen

La Flamenca es una finca que perteneció al Real Heredamiento de Aranjuez. Se constituyó en 1775, como uno de los muchos proyectos que Carlos III desarrolló en los Sitios Reales. En 1855 se instaló en ella el primer centro de enseñanza superior de agricultura en España, la Escuela Central de Agricultura, predecesora de la actual Escuela de Agrónomos situada en la Ciudad Universitaria. La función académica de La Flamenca fue efímera, pero sentó las bases para el establecimiento de la primera institución universitaria en el espacio que ya en el siglo XX se convertiría en el campus madrileño.

La Flamenca is an estate that belonged to the Real Heredamiento of Aranjuez. It was established in 1775, along with several other projects that Carlos III developed within the Royal Estates. In 1855, the first agriculture higher education centre in Spain was settled on its grounds, the so-called Central School of Agriculture, predecessor of today’s School of Agronomical Engineers located in the Ciudad Universitaria. La Flamenca’s academic role was ephemeral, but it laid the foundations of the first university institutionin the site which would turn into the campus of Madrid in the 20th century.
