Abstract

----------ABSTRACT---------- The artist’s studio/workshop is a functional place for creation, and also the frame and a part of the raw material of their work. This relationship between the work of art and its production place is sometimes so close that their evolutions run together; as a matter of it, aesthetic, material and spatial changes are incited in both directions. In that case, the work’s creation process takes place in an architectural making of, and the workshop turns into a performative place. Through analysis of the workshops of Piet Mondrian, Kurt Schwitters, Louise Bourgeois or Anselm Kiefer this research will show the influence and the close relationship that exists between this production places and the work of art; but also between the artist’s work, their philosophy and way of life, as a whole, between art, life an environment. Showing a different perspective on the conception and meaning of the artwork, and its creation place.
