Estudio del mercado de inversiones socialmente responsables (ISR) en España y su impacto en la consecución de los ODS 7 y 13

Resumen

Las inversiones socialmente responsables son un tipo de producto financiero que mueve miles de millones de euros en el mercado nacional. Hay varios tipos y estrategias de inversión responsable, pero por norma general, son un tipo de inversión que buscan el impacto social, ambiental y de buen gobierno corporativo más allá de la rentabilidad financiera. En este trabajo se pretende que el lector consiga entender el propósito de este tipo de inversiones para poder reconocerlas y diferenciarlas. Además de conocer el contexto de este mercado, cuáles son las instituciones y organizaciones que trabajan en este sector, cual es el marco regulador de este producto, y las principales estrategias de inversión sostenible. Para ello, presentaremos a los agentes de este sector a nivel nacional e internacional explicando la labor que realizan cada uno de ellos. También se realizará un estudio de las diferentes normas y leyes que marcan las reglas del juego de este sector financiero, analizando como afectan tanto a empresas como a inversores y demás partes interesadas. De la misma manera, se hará mención a las diferentes clasificaciones y estándares de calidad emitidos por diferentes organizaciones, analizando los requisitos de cada uno de ellos y las ventajas de su reconocimiento. Una vez conocidos estos conceptos previos, el objetivo de este trabajo es conocer cuál ha sido el impacto del mercado nacional de las inversiones socialmente responsables en la consecución de los Objetivos para el Desarrollo Sostenible. Para el ámbito de este trabajo, se han reducido los diecisiete objetivos a dos, utilizando el séptimo y el decimotercero como marco de estudio para este trabajo. Previo a este análisis de impacto se realizará un estudio de la situación actual de estos objetivos seleccionados, segmentando cada uno de ellos en sus respectivas metas y analizando el progreso de sus principales métricas e índices. Una vez conocida la situación actual de estos objetivos, se realizará un estudio cuantitativo de la aportación del mercado ISR nacional a su consecución. Para ello, primero deberemos recoger el volumen de las inversiones sostenibles alineadas directamente con los objetivos, para cada uno de ellos, encontramos segmentos diferentes de inversiones y de tipos de estrategias de inversión, por lo que es fundamental hacer esta separación del total del mercado. Posteriormente, para conseguir una traducción inversión-impacto, elaboraremos una especie de factores de conversión utilizando estudios previos y diferentes parametrizaciones para cada uno de los objetivos analizados. Una vez obtengamos estos factores de traducción, la inversión dedicada y la situación actual de los objetivos, podremos hacer un cálculo aproximado de la aportación del mercado de las inversiones socialmente responsables en la consecución de los Objetivos para el Desarrollo Sostenible. Otra parte de este trabajo trata de realizar una proyección a futuro de las inversiones socialmente responsables. Para elaborar este estudio, recogeremos los datos e investigaciones utilizados en el desarrollo del trabajo para realizar una aproximación de lo que nos podemos esperar en los próximos años de este mercado. Veremos cuáles serán las tendencias que marcarán el comportamiento de este mercado y las posibles nuevas normas y legislaciones que aparecerán para mejorar la situación actual. Finalmente, realizaremos un análisis de impacto ya no solo en los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, que también se hará una referencia a los objetivos que quedaron fuera del estudio, sino un estudio de impacto en diferentes aspectos como puede ser el social, ambiental o económico. En resumen, esperamos que con este trabajo el lector adquiera una serie de conocimientos acerca del mercado de las inversiones socialmente responsables en España y como este mercado ha tenido un impacto fundamental en el desarrollo de fuentes de energías renovables y en la lucha por el clima. Además, este trabajo puede servir como un primer paso introductorio para convertirse en un agente activo de este mercado en el caso de que se busque una forma de inversión que este alineada con el compromiso social y ambiental del inversor.

ABSTRACT

Socially responsible investments are a type of financial product that moves billions of euros in the domestic market. There are several types and strategies of responsible investment, but as a rule, they are a type of investment that seeks the social, environmental, and good corporate governance impact beyond financial profitability. In this work it is intended that the reader can understand the purpose of this type of investments to be able to recognize and differentiate them. In addition to knowing the context of this market, what are the institutions and organizations working in this sector, what is the regulatory framework of this product, and the main sustainable investment strategies. To do this, we will present the agents of this sector at the national and international level explaining the work that each of them does. A study of the different rules and laws that mark the rules of the game of this financial sector will also be carried out, analysing how they affect both companies, investors, and other stakeholders. Similarly, we will mention the different classifications and quality standards issued by different organizations, analysing the requirements of each of them and the advantages of their recognition. Once these prior concepts are known, the aim of this work is to know what the impact of the domestic market of socially responsible investments on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals has been. For the scope of this work, the seventeen objectives have been reduced to two, using the seventh and the thirteenth as the study framework for this work. Prior to this impact analysis, a study of the current situation of these selected targets will be carried out, segmenting each of them in their respective targets and analysing the progress of their main metrics and indices. Once the current situation of these objectives is known, a quantitative study of the contribution of the national market to their achievement will be carried out. To do this, we will first have to collect the volume of sustainable investments directly aligned with the goals, for each of them, we find different segments of investments and types of investment strategies, so it is fundamental to make this separation from the total market. Subsequently, to an investment-impact translation, we will elaborate a kind of conversion factors using previous studies and different parameters for each of the objectives analysed. Once we obtain these translation factors, the dedicated investment, and the current situation of the goals, we will be able to make an approximate calculation of the market contribution of socially responsible investments to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Another part of this work is about making a future projection of socially responsible investments. To prepare this study, we will collect the data and research used in the development of the work to make an approximation of what we can expect in the coming years of this market. We will see what will be the trends that will mark the behaviour of this market and the possible new rules and legislation that will appear to improve the current situation. Finally, we will carry out an impact analysis not only in the Sustainable Development Goals, which will also make a reference to the objectives that remained outside the study, but an impact study in different aspects such as social, environmental, or economic. In summary, we hope that with this work the reader will acquire a series of knowledge about the market for socially responsible investments in Spain and how this market has had a fundamental impact on the development of renewable energy sources and the fight for the climate. In addition, this work can serve as an introductory first step to become an active agent of this market if a form of investment is sought that is aligned with the social and environmental commitment of the investor.
