Resumen

Melanoma is an aggressive cancer with high metastatic potential and limited treatment options. This study evaluates Photothermal Therapy (PTT) using gold nanorods (GNRs) in a murine melanoma model. Tumors treated with PEGfunctionalized GNRs and irradiated with an 808 nm laser showed complete elimination in small tumors (≤2 mm) and a 45% reduction in growth rate for larger tumors. The results confirm that PTT is effective for early-stage melanoma, but larger tumors require additional strategies, highlighting its potential as a minimally invasive, targeted therapy with future clinical applications
