Resumen

Project‐Based Learning (PBL) is a methodological approach where students learn to work on real projects in teams. This paper deals with the introduction of PBL in the Methodology and Scientific Documentation subject taught in several Master programs at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The study is backed‐up by academic results of 56 students enrolled in the Master degree on Network Engineering and Telematic Services (Ingeniería de Redes y Servicios Telemáticos) from the three last editions (from 2010‐11 to 2012‐13). Analysis of results shows no significant differences between editions for the dependent variable Project, while Final Score has a significant lower mean in the last edition, with PBL approach. Although all students pass with the PBL methodology, the number of high scores decreases. The review of the conditions that limit the PBL methodology’s success as well as an analysis of the benefits that its implementation contributes to the education of Masters students are presented. Finally, proposals to carry out further actions for teachers’ training are suggested.
